Sandra Bland Did Not Commit Suicide

You do not have the right. You do not have the right to do this.

The findings from Waller County, Texas’s own officials that ruled Sandra Bland’s death a suicide, make me sad, sick, and now, terribly fearful. Watching the video of her arrest, it was very clear that Bland knew her rights, and spoke with the education of a woman who knew she did nothing wrong. It just takes the whole #BlackLivesMatter theme to a whole new terrifying prospect for me, because all this time, we have focused on the destruction of Black men without due cause. Now, even knowing my rights as an educated, working, contributing,  Black American female citizen, I know that I too, can become a victim. All Black people, men and women, are in danger.

The fact that Bland’s death is so obviously, blatantly, a coverup, can not be overstated.

The fact that there are many, many Americans who find absolutely no fault in how State Trooper Brian Encinia handled the situation, is even more scary. Because if we read the transcript of the incident, and strip away what we know of Sandra Bland, it should be clear that her rights were violated to any sane person who understands their Constitutional Rights. But then again, the Constitution wasn’t written with Black people in mind.

The fact that absolutely nothing adds up in how a detainee can be found hanging, alone in a jail cell after several days is questionable at the very least.

The fact that a police force can open and close it’s own investigation is shameful.

The fact that Sandra Bland will never have her day in court, but the Charleston, terrorist will, is criminal.

The thought of this makes my want to cry, violently. And I have every right to feel this way.

Waller County, we don’t believe you.

We want answers, and a federal investigation needs to be opened, now. I can no longer sit in silence, and offer prayers. My life is on the line.

  1. I totally feel you & I echo your sentiments. I am sick to my stomach & numb, this makes absolutely no sense but then again it does when you know & understand the type of country we live in. Thank you Queen for sharing.

    • Your welcome. It’s becoming harder and harder to sit in silence when it feels like it could be me.
