Mo’Nique, Gabourey ‘Gabby’ Sidibe, director Lee Daniels, and writer Sapphire

I saw the preview to Push: Based on the novel by Sapphireand cried. This explosive Lee Daniels movie has been lauded by Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey and just picked up two awards at the Sundance Film Festival. Mariah Carey surprisingly plays a convincing case worker, and Mo’Nique is a striking depiction of a welfare mother. Push is based on a novel by street-lit writer Sapphire.
