I was recently in Whole Foods Tribeca and walked past a vendor hawking creamy coconut oil as a high end moisturizer for the face and body. I didn’t ask how much a jar was, but I am sure it was expensive. Truth is, I have been using coconut oil on my hair, face and body for as long as I can remember. And with my daughter, the results of our consistent use is clearly visible: bright, smooth brown skin that is the envy of everyone including her pediatrician.
Coconut oil doesn’t need to be expensive. Of course if you got o your specialty organic store, you can expect to pay $10 and up for a small jar. But visit your local Korean or West Indian market and a large 30 oz bottle can be had for around $6. Why so cheap? because coconut oil is a staple in many South East Asian an Caribbean dishes. No need to let beauty break the bank. A jar like the one above should only set you back about $3.
