I started this blog way back in 2006 as an of-shoot of an online magazine that I self-funded and created. It was my way of paying homage to the wonderful designers I worked for, the fashion shows I’ve attended, the closets I’ve organized. I wanted something that represented a fresh, intelligent side of fashion for smart, off-the-cuff women of color.

Years have passed. I blogged, mostly inconsistently, or when I saw something that particularly struck me as amazing, or when I had the time and energy outside of being a mom. But I still love Lavish. It may not have gotten as large as some of the other blogs that came along after me, but this is still my home.

Alas, after all these years, it’s time for something new. I’ve rebranded my website to reflect the new facets of me. I still love fashion. I still love celebrity style. But I am more focused on the issues that make a difference in the world, and I’ll take a little more time to write about those things too.

Here’s to growing up and out.
