“Like you, we’ve always wanted to put together a flotilla of scrap rafts to float down the Mississippi River, and we’re doing it. The Armada will include 25 artists, performers, and activists from New York, San Francisco, and Seattle, with members of the Toyshop Collective, Visual Resistance, the Amateurs, the Floating Neutrinos, the Infernal Noise Brigade, the Madagascar Institute, and the Rude Mechanical Orchestra. In two weeks the group leavesfor Minneapolis where it will create rafts out of garbage, then set sail the following week. The project is an attempt to do something impossible, to pursue adventure, to steal hippie technology, to take something to the middle of the country, and to bring something back.”
