Model Spotlight: Philomena Kwao

Philomena Kwao

Philomena Kwao is a stunning Ghanian model from London living in New York. The curvaceous model captivated me with her doe eyes, but I am floored by her powerfully graceful appearance on the runway and in print. Kwao has a degree in International Health Management, and is a vocal activist for body positivity in the media, as well as fighting for maternal rights. You can read more about her here and here.

When she’s not modeling or campaigning, she’s writing here. Check her out.

Lavish Beauty: JHud’s Buzz Cut

Who needs hair, when u serving face! – Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson showed off her fresh chop. It’s a bold move, considering that hair is great at hiding flaws, contouring and framing a face, and changing your demeanor. It’s such a risk, chopping it all off. I’ve done it, years ago, and the upkeep is worse than having a head full of hair. One missed appointment, and you are fully on blast, with no ponytail as a saving grace. But Ms. Hudson looks amazing!

Youtube Vlogger Sunshine Abuwi has a great video on on getting and maintaining a fabulous buzz cut:

Lavish Beauty: Le Labo

I only stopped in Saks today to get a new backpack. And then this happened: a quiet artisanal perfumery called Le Labo smack dab in the center corridor caught my nose and just stole my senses away. I’m very picky with my fragrances because I find many of them far too overpowering or artificial smelling. But a whiff of Tubereuse, a woodsy arrangement with hints of vetiver and neroli,  had me falling in love. I told myself that I would wear the scent for a day or two, and if I found myself daydreaming about it, then I would come out and purchase a bottle.

Tubereuse, $240, sold out online, available at Saks Fifth Avenue.
