#SagsSoBlack

Round of applause to Idris Elba for scooping not one, but two SAG Awards for his roles in Luther, and Beasts of No Nation; For Queen Latifah’s role in Bessie; For Uzo Aduba’s role in Orange is the New Black; and for Viola Davis in How to Get Away With Murder. All are favorites of mine, and I’m glad that these talented Black artists are getting their shine.

With Honor: Cicely Tyson

I wanted to give Cicely Tyson props for her recent Kennedy Center Honor by dedicating 50 years as an actress and entertainer. A few weeks ago, Black Twitter and Instagram was having a field day with Ms. Tyson as a #CelebrityOnlyBlackPeopleKnow . Well now, America can know her and lover her, just as Black folks always have: the mama in our heads.

Lights, Camera, Action: BAFTA Awards Red Carpet

Doesn’t Lupita’s  mom look so proud? And they match!
No, Lupita didn’t win Best Supporting Actress last night at the British Academy of Film awards. That honor went to Jennifer Lawrence for her role in American Hustle. But if you want to see pics from the Red Carpet, head over to Facebook and indulge.
