I visited the Brooklyn Urban Arts Festival last Sunday, and it was so exciting to see some Fresh talent. Many graphic artists put together a solid showing of printed t-shirts and accessories–not your typical Parish fare, but truly thoughtful work.

Among my favorites was the talented chick, Chanel Kennebrew, behind the line Junk Prints.

Clockwise from top left: Bumpin Shirt, $50; Colored Fountain Tee, $30; Lil Afro Line Purse, $70; Fresh To Life Shirt, $30. All at junkprints.com

Another brother had concocted a series of amplifiers from djembe drums. I had never seen anything like it! Speakers start at $400. Visit his site, if only to look at the genius of them! www.djembehifi.com

The next and last Brooklyn Arts Festival will be on Sunday, September 21st, 2008. 12p-6p. Cash or Visa/MC accepted by most vendors. It’s located on Myrtle Ave between Hall and Classon Aves. in the parking lot. You’ll see the red tents and hear the music when you are near. The closest train is the G to either Clinton-Washington or Myrtle Willoughby. The best way is by Bus on the B54 that runs along Myrtle.

I Love BK.
