Artist Brian Donnelly, professionally known as KAWS, is a graffiti artist from New jersey who studied at the School of Visual Arts. His notoriety was well know to the underground art world in the 90’s where he emblazoned billboards, train cars, and sidewalks with his signature cartoon style. His work was featured in the BAPE gallery in Tokyo, and he later collaborated with BAPE’s creator Nigo for several commercial endeavors. His playful-yet very adult- drawings and paintings have fetched upwards for $400,000. Some of his action figures can be found in Kid Robot and Tokyo Pop in NYC’s East Village.
