In honor of the 20th anniversary of director Spike Lee’s first feature film, She’s Gotta Have It (which, in my humble opinion, is one of the most prolific movies about the modern black American woman ever), the legendary director is teaming up with urbanwear mogul Marc Ecko to release the 40 Acres & a Mule collection under Ecko’s Cut & Sew label. Consisting of graphic tees, varsity jackets, and hoodie sweaters, the collection is set to debut this Fall at high end stores (though, the only stateside listing I’ve seen thus far is at www.cmonwealth.com). However, if you can’t get enough info, you can check out the What’s Really Good website (http://www.whatsreallygoodmagazine.com) for more information.

My personal favorite picks:

The Radio Raheim fist tee (inspired by Do The Right Thing– one of the most powerful film images ever.

The Crooklyn map varsity jacket- for those who want to rep BK and Mr. Lee.

and last, but not least:

the jersey knit Spike Lee tribute sweater- has a bit of nautical flavor and a lot of urban style

(My only gripe: that this isn’t available in a women’s collection)
