Red Carpet Swag: Jessica White at the LoveGold Pre-Oscar party

Model Jessica White looked luxurious at the LoveGold Pre-Oscars party. I always love that classic glamour pin-up look, and the feathers and jewels top it off perfectly.

#PFW Fall Winter 2014 Day One: Favorites + Trends

Day one in Paris was pretty quiet, and I took a look at some quietly known and under-the-radar designers to get started. I enjoyed the subliminal graphics and icons, and tribute to Jean Michel Basquiat by Lucien Pellat Finet  was a favorite of mine.
Trends spotted: Oversized, graphic messaging
Below, highlights from Lucien Pellat Finet, Moon Young Hee, Pascal Millet, and Dévastée

Weekday Swag: Jennifer Hudson for V Magazine

What is with the wet hair thing? Are we slowly bringing this back? In any case, Jennifer Hudson, here in V Magazine brings on a load of sexy. Artfully shot by Terry Richardson, Hudson talks about coming out of her shell, and credits drag queens as her inspiration (I’m not making this up).

Pretty ironic, as drag queens are an over representation of feminine realness, so to take inspiration from a parody of something a woman is, naturally, is a bit backwards. Says Hudson:

‘I used to go to gay clubs when I was a kid. We were 16 or 17 and my best friend would pretend to be my manager,’ Jennifer admitted.

‘He’d have business cards made up and he’d negotiate for me to sing for $25 a song. I’d have these amazing drag queens style me up and down, honey.’

Lavish Beauty: Rosemary Hair Rinse

I’ve been blessed with an abundance of dark, thick hair since I was a little girl. As I get older, I always have that fear that I will suffer the inevitable. I’ve heard stories of women losing their hair after childbirth and getting thin once they’ve hot a certain age. Knock on wood this hasn’t happened to me. I try to eat as healthful as I can – lots of eggs, real butter, coconut oil and grass-fed animal fats keep my hair, skin and nails strong and supple.
Rocking my ‘fro at 3 years
I’ve also been put on to the wonders of Rosemary as a stimulant to healthy hair growth. This Rosemary hair rinse was floating around on Facebook, so I decided to give it a try, after my shampoo. If definitely gives my hair a stingily, fresh feeling, and my follicles do seem stronger after the first few uses. I can’t tell you about length; that will have to wait until my next visit to the stylist.
Here is the recipe to try at home. It’s pretty simple:
Rosemary Hair Rinse
Ingredients
4 Cups filtered water
8 drops of rosemary essential oil
8 drops Lavender essential oil
1 tsp Borax
3 tbsp. Organic Apple Cider vinegar
Put all the ingredients into several glass jars, depending on amount needed per rinse. And your done! The rinse keeps for 2 weeks in your fridge.

#MFW Fall Winter 2014 Day Six: Favorites + Trends

My favorite hands-down was Stella Jean. I love how this design house reworks the classic African Ankara wax prints into something new and modern. I think I want everything in this collection!
