Beyonce and Alicia: Não falo português!

What is the Portuguese word for hot? The two songtresses touched down in Brazil to film the video for Alicia Key’s upcoming single, Put It In A Love Song. The ladies look fab in colorful African-prints in modern designs. The featured line, Boxing Kitten, is designed by Maya Lake who derives inspiration from Josephine Baker, W.E.B Dubois, and her mother. The designer says:

If you take the patterns and very feminine silhouettes of women from the civil rights era and then put these dresses in African inspired prints and fabrics, the you have the Boxing Kitten woman.

Peep Beyoncé and Alicia in Boxing Kitten below. Loves!

Mark Your Calendars: Sonia Rykiel for H&M

Since I’ve been working on my other labor of love, I haven’t had so much time to post some of my favorite looks, and fashion anticipations. The first of these desirables is the new Sonia Rykiel for H&M collection lauching February 20th. When I think Sonia Rykiel, I think of my wild and crazy days (and nights) racing all over Paris, dallying through the Marais, having lunch along the Seine, grabbing tchotckes in Belleville. And running around in my sexy little Sonia Rykiel tank making French men blush. Ah, to be young in Paris. The new Rykiel line promises lots of bold color, stripes, and sparkly berets to brighten up your winter blahs.

“The essence of Sonia Rykiel is the Parisian woman of Saint Germain des Pres, the Left Bank or Rive Gauche,” the designer’s daughter, Nathalie Rykiel, who is also president and artisitc director of the fashion house, explains.

“The idea of the collection is to offer the essence of Sonia Rykiel. This [H&M] line is absolutely true to our philosophy, which is about quality and know-how, and not about money. H&M gave me complete freedom with creation and quality. We used pure wool and pure cotton. It’s the DNA of Rykiel.”

Here’s a peek at some of my favorite pieces:

Sweater Dress,  $50

Jumpsuit, $70

Sweater, $35

Sweater,  $40

Brooch, $6

You can view the entire collection here, and make your own style picks. Bon Courage!
